Introduction CalSOP, a subcommittee of Caltrans District 7/ACEC Professional Liaison Committee, was formed in December 2006 to develop a strategy and implementation plan to attract more students, especially high school age, towards careers in engineering and related fields.

• Develop a long range program that will encourage high school students toward civil engineering careers.
• Communicate to high school students the challenge and vision for public service through an engineering career.
• Provide information for school administrators and students on how to prepare for an engineering career.
